Seizer Final Teaser Trailer

This is the final edit of our main product for this course. In this teaser trailer, we use the Action genre to help us create suspense and excitement for the audience.

Magazine Final

This is our final magazine cover. As you can see, there are quite a few changes from the first draft. Our audience feedback taught us that we shouldn't have a lot of words at the bottom of the magazine cover and so we removed most of it but entered a image of a new upcoming film to help in making the poster more eyecatchy. We also took of the green screen as it was annoying for people to try and read the magazine but be drawn to the green screen for no reason.

Poster Final

This is our final poster for our ancillary task of our final product. We only made one change from the previous poster and that was the line at the bottom of the poster.

Evaluation Question 1

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our media product has the convention of an Action trailer, a lot of fighting and chaseing scenes. We also got a hitman character which is quite conventional for Thriller films as shown by Taken. Liam Neson doesn't nessaceraly play a hitman but he does play a person who chaeses down his daughter which is the same as what our Hitman character does but he is chasing after his bosses son instead. Another convention of an Action teaser trailer is that they usually show there production company in the teaser trailer and so we have also included that in our product.
An area where we may not have followed the conventions of an Action - Thriller genre teaser trailer is that we didn't include any dialogue, instead we had title sides to help create suspense.
This is a title slide that we used to try show the story line of what is going to happen in our film.

Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of the main product and the ancillary tasks?

The main product is a teaser trailer for our film idea Seizer. In the main product we show a lot of shots linked with terrorism and violence. These themes are linked to violence and this prompted us to include scenes like these in our main product and in our ancillary task. We also show the theme of violence in our ancillary task by using the colours red, black and white.

This is our poster which shows the red, black and white colour scheme which is the same as the magazine cover below. Also in the poster, the image of Richard Smith who is played by Emre is the shot of him whilst he is tied up bringing together the theme of terrorism and violence.
The magazine also has the three colour schemes of red, black and white. Also the main image of our Hitman, Lee.

As you can see, we have tried to create a brand by having the same colour scheme in both our ancillary task which promote the themes of violence and terrorism. These themes are also present in our main product and so our whole project links well together.

Evaluation Question 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

We learnt many things from our audience feedback. We learnt that we didn't require a lot of writing at the bottom of our magazine cover as it looked like to much writing and a bit claustrophobic. We also found out that our film sounded like taken and so we started to take a lot of inspiration from the Taken films. On a whole audience feedback has been our most helpful resource and it helped us create shots like these:

This shot was inspired from Taken and our target audience liked the idea of shots which look like the person has been interrogated.

The following shot just hints to the audience that he has been taken which many people we asked liked about our trailer.

Evaluation Question 4

How did you use media technologies in the planning and research, construction and evaluation stages?

In the planning and research stages of our production, we used Google and Youtube to research on the product and the two ancillary tasks we had to create. Also in the research stage, we also used sites like Facebook and Twitter to send our friends links of our questionnaire's and other questions we wanted to ask there help on. These technologies were very useful as any teaser trailer I analyse on Youtube, I was able to embed the footage onto Blogger and so people who look at my blog could watch the trailer I had just watched and also have there own opinion on the trailer. Another reason why these technologies were helpful becuase it helped us spread the word about our product Seizer on major social networks. This sort of distribution is also used by major production companies as it is a fast way in spreading the news and gossip of new films.
In the construction stage of our product and ancillary task, we used iMovie and Adobe photoshop. These two softwares helped us in completing our tasks for this course. We had some difficulty in creating our poster and magazine cover and so we had to ask some people who had more information on how to create a poster and magazine cover. This is another time where Facebook and Twitter were helpful as we were able to ask friends on how to use Photoshop to help us in some circumstances to help us finish our ancillary task. In the construction stage, we wanted to create a sort of scooping shot, as we didn't trust iMovie to create this, we created this effect by ourselves using a rolled up piece of paper.

This is the shot we created by ourself using the technology we had.

In the evaluation stage, I used Google and iMovie. Google to search for images to help my evaluation look more attractive and iMovie was to edit together my directors chair interveiw.
