Analysis of Django Unchained teaser trailer

The teaser trailer to this eagerly awaited film starts of with the green screen. This is a usual feature for all types of trailers as it lets the audience know that what they are viewing is of suitable contect and that it isn't fake. The first shot is of a very fimiliar actor, Leonardo DiCapprio, which idicates to the audience that this is going to be a character driven teaser trailer. Also from his clothes and his acsent, the audience is aware that this film is a western film. The first line in this teaser is 'Boy what is your name?' this has a reply of 'Django'. This creates questions for the audience as they wonder on what Django's relivence to the film is as his name is also in the title. This helps create mystery and suspense. The next shot is of Jamie Foxx (who plays Django) stating his name and then another shot of him shotting at something. This indicates the Action genre present in the film to the audience. After these shots, the production logos appear with a high pitched western soundtrack in the background. After the production company logo's, the teaser continues with a conversation between Jamie Foxx's character in the background with Christopher Waltz who is another weel known actor. With the conversation in the background, the audience veiw a selection of shots in the film which helps them piece together the plot of the film. After these shots, a superimposed message appears over a shot in silute. These superimposed words remind the audience that the film is directed by Quentin Tarantino who is a famous director who also directed Pulp Fiction. After this the audience see a selection of Action and plot related shots. These shots help create excitement but also hints at the plot which helps create suspense. The trailer nears to the end by showing a still of all the famous characters used in this production. This inforces the character driven trailer and it also draws in different target audiences who may not have come to see this film but will as they have seen there favourite actor or actors appear in this production. We as an audience can tell that the actors involved in the film are its major selling points. The title of the film appears in black font and a dusty. brown background which indicates the time of the film and the western genre. The teaser ends with converstaion between the three main characters which hints to the audience there may be a happy ending.
This teaser is quite plot and character driven and so we think we are going to take some ideas from the speackes involved in this teaser that create suspense and mystery and try and create these themes in our own production.
